Participating at Civil War reenactments as an Artist Correspondent, Kevin has
rediscovered many of the methods used by the Special Artists to capture the action
and details of these quickly evolving scenes. He has completed hundreds of drawings
from which he can study and recreate the battle and camp sketches of the 1860's.
His life long study of History allows him to add the correct details to give the
drawings a very realistic look."Each time you go afield you come across something
that catches your eye and you have to draw it.This is the way it was done and you
add this to your file. You must move quickly get your drawing and get back to a
place where you can put it all together. There is no substitute for working in the
field". Kevin also has participated in many reenactments as a soldier. From this he
gets a sense of what the Civil War Infantryman encountered.
Endorsements:
"A Kevin Storms Painting captures the atmosphere and action of battle reminiscent
of the best of the Civil War Visual Reporters. His work displayed at Cedar Creek
National Battlefield Visitors Center has many times been mistaken for an 1860's
original."
- Suzanne Chilson, Executive Director, Cedar Creek Battlefield Foundation
"My Grandfather fought with The 124th NY Orange Blossoms. Kevin's paintings honor
his memory."
- Ted Sly, County Historian, Orange County NY
